Befriending Scheme

BASIS’ Befriending scheme, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, matches volunteer befrienders with local sight impaired and registered blind people in need of friendship and support. We are committed to preventing people in South Essex from becoming lonely and isolated.
– The home befriending service provides companionship through a weekly home visit.
– Active befriending assists with tasks such as medical appointments, learning new routes and leisure activities.
– Telephone befriending provides weekly contact with a volunteer.

What we do
The BASIS mission is to empower and enable visually impaired people to be as independent as possible by providing training, information and support for adults with sight loss.
